Elavon Europe has again stepped up to support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, providing a number of payment devices and volunteers in London and Manchester earlier this month.
Our support follows the success of 2019 Appeal, in which we provided 1100 cashless terminals to collect donations - the largest-ever deployment of cashless terminals for a charitable campaign in Europe.
This year’s Poppy Appeal raised more than £800,000 in London.
Despite foot traffic in London down 35% on pre-pandemic levels, the total in the capital represents just an 8.6% decrease in donations compared to 2019.
Elavon’s support effort was led by Vanessa Neal, EU Product Chief of Staff, and Dena Boyce, Senior Business Development Manager.
“It’s a fantastic effort. We couldn’t be more proud of our colleagues and the business for supporting this once more,” says Vanessa.
“The Appeal and the funds raised mean so much to so many different people. With cash use dropping each year, we’re pleased that with Elavon contactless terminals, we can enable people to continue to donate in other ways.”
Elavon staff braved the cold conditions to rattle buckets and collect card payments at Stratford station and outside Manchester Arndale alongside current and former serving members of the British Armed Forces.
Our work in 2019, alongside our partner Payacharity, won us a Card & Payments Award in the ‘Changing Lives in the Community’ category earlier this year.
